Building Department - Permits

The Building Department is responsible for reviewing construction drawings, issuing building permits, and inspecting for compliance with codes and ordinances.  Building Permits are required on any structural repair, new construction or remodeling of any building or home within the City.  Demolition of buildings requires a permit.

Permits and Inspections
Inspections will be performed as soon as possible after they are called in.  Twenty-four hour notice is preferred if possible.

  Fees: Based on value of work.

  Used for: New construction, Additions,  Alterations, Repairs, Demolition, Moving of buildings.

• Mechanical Permit
  Used for: New construction, Additions,  Alterations, Repair of mechanical equipment
  Fees: Based on type of of equipment being installed

• Gas Permit
  Used for: New construction, Additions,  Alterations, Manufactured Home Hook-ups, Repair of gas lines and equipment

Building Board of Adjustment and Appeal:
The Building Board of Adjustment and Appeal is created by the Building Code. Members are appointed by the City Council.  The Board is charged with responsibility for hearing appeals to the Building Code. Appeals may be for hardship from specific requirements of the Code or from interpretation of the Building Official.

Meetings are held on an as-needed basis. Expression of interest in serving on the Board may be made in writing to the City Manager.
