CLASSES

The La Grange Citizen's Police Academy is a 36-hour block of instruction which
consists of twelve (12) classes, held once a week for three (3) hours.

Instruction per class is comprehensive, covering different avenues of the police
department. Certified police officers, supervisors and personnel with expertise in a
particular area or division conduct each block of instruction. Guest speakers from
other police departments are invited for certain aspects of the training.

The Academy covers such diverse topics as communication and corrections, criminal
investigation, criminal law, DWI investigation, penal code and traffic laws, use of
force issues, complex juvenile law, criminal justice procedure, personal safety, drug
interdiction, crime prevention and game warden issues.
