Welcome to the Fayette Heritage Museum & Archives on the internet.  Here
you will find all that you need to  know in order to use the archives, such as
archival holdings, and all fees for the various services.  Stop by sometime,
and visit our Archives department!

The mission statement of the Museum & Archives is to interpret the history of Fayette
County, man and his environment, through the preservation and care of artifacts for use in
display, education, public service, and research.  Acquisitions mus meet several
requirements and, once accepted, it is intended that the object has permanency in the
collections as long as they retain their integrity and remain in keeping with the mission
statement.  The facility will not accept any item/s whose ownership is in question.
Loans of items to the facility shall not be accepted except for a specific exhibit or
research project. 

Access to the Archives will be allowed on a liberal basis subject to the policy of use,
and be pursuant to a scholarly and ethical interest, and applicable to any state and
federal law governing their use. 

 

 Services & Fees

 Almost all of the paper collections of the Museum/Archives can be copied. Some materials are too fragile to be handled and can not be copied.  The Museum/Archives accepts “quick look-up” requests by phone, letter or e-mail.  Quick look-ups are:  burials, marriages, census, obituaries (full death date required), county records & local history book indexes.   Copies can be mailed at the price per page below + $5.00 postage.

We do not scan, fax and/or E-mail paper records.

Xerox Copies      letter and legal size     15 cents per page

                Xerox Copies      letter and legal size    25 cents per page when mailed

Microfilm Prints     letter size only     25 cents per page (in-house & mailed)

As a courtesy to our community and researchers, scans & prints of historic photographs held in the Museum/Archives Collection are available for research purposes ONLY. They are not for commercial use and may not be transferred to anyone else without permission from the Museum & Archives. All photos must carry the credit line:

 SCANS   (all scans are in color at 600 ppi)

In Person: $3.00 each + $1.00 for CD

By mail:     $3.00 each + $1.00 for CD + $5.00 postage

By E-mail: $3.00 each + $5.00 handling

(LIMIT: 10 scans per CD or E-mail per person per day)

 

PRINTS  (quality matte photo paper on an inkjet photo printer)

8 ½ x 11     $5.00 each

13 x 19       $10.00 each

(LIMIT: 5 prints of any size per person per day)

Prints can not be mailed.

All fees must be paid in full in advance (cash, check or money order) before any copies, scans and/or prints will be made. Due to staffing levels and workload it may take several days to one week for copies, scans and prints to be completed.

The Museum/Archives also has a small book store selling local history books and other Texana titles. The title and price list may be found here.

Sales tax is 8.25%. Books can be mailed after payment is made.

Postage is $4.00 for the first book and $1.50 for each additional title.
