statement of the Museum & Archives is
to interpret the
history of
Fayette
County, man and his
environment, through the preservation and care of artifacts
for use
in
display, education, public service, and research.
Acquisitions must meet
several requirements and, once accepted,
it is intended that the objects
have permanency in the collections
as long as they retain their integrity
and remain in keeping with
the mission statement. The facility will not
accept any item/s
whose ownership is in question. Loans of items to the
facility
shall not be accepted except for a specific exhibit or research
project. Access to the Archives will be allowed on a liberal
basis subject
to the policy of use, and be pursuant to a scholarly
and ethical interest,
and applicable to any state and federal law governing their use.
