Utility Rebates for Local Receipts

Utility_Challenge_Round2

The City of La Grange wants to help our local business community during these challenging times and we need your help. The City of La Grange has created the Locals Love La Grange Challenge in which the City is offering utility rebates on City utilities for local receipts.

You read that right, you could earn a credit on your City utility bill by buying and eating locally, or by purchasing a gift card from your favorite downtown store, or by buying yourself some new outfit or home decor at the local store. Our local businesses make the possibilities seem endless.

Please keep in mind that the goal of this program is to support local businesses, which for these purposes, a local business is any business within the City limits of La Grange and has less than 50 employees. We encourage people to use this program to shop small and support businesses adversely affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

Think of local restaurants, retail businesses, and service industries that have been impacted by this crisis and use this program to help your neighbors.

How does it work? The process is easy:

  • Spend a total of $75, receive $45 credit (max)
  • Total spent may be at one business or multiple businesses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can commercial and industrial accounts receive credit too?

No.

Can I combine receipts to reach the $25 limit?

Yes. You can combine any number of receipts before sending them in. Only turn in receipts once for the total amount for the desired rebate to be applied.  The total amount purchased will be added together to calculate the amount of rebate you will receive.

Can I get a rebate for purchasing a gift card?

Yes, gift card purchases of $25 or more will be counted as a purchase at a local business.  All gift cards must be purchased directly through a local small business inside La Grange city limits.  Gift cards purchased at a large grocery and/or retail store will not qualify.

Can I give my credit to another account?

Yes, you can give your credit to another account if you would like. Please write down the number and name of the account owner you would like to credit.

How long will this program last?

The program will start May 29, 2020. Receipt(s) must reflect a purchase date between May 29, 2020 and June 15, 2020.  The program fund is limited and the program will end when either funding is depleted or on June 22, 2020 at 5pm, whichever occurs first.

How much credit can I earn on my account?

You can earn up to $45 worth of credit on your account. The rebate will be credited to your July 2020 residential bill with La Grange Utilities.

I bought a pizza in April/May from a local business, can I turn in that receipt for a rebate?

Receipts must be dated between May 29, 2020 and June 15, 2020. But hey, now you get to purchase and eat a second pizza. So, we're all winners here.

What if I have a receipt of over $50? Does that count as two credits?

Yes. Utility rebates of $15 will be applied for every $25 spent. A receipt of $50 will be worth $30 in rebates, a receipt of $75 will be worth $45.

Also, you can combine receipts, meaning if you submit multiple receipts all at one time you would receive the rebate associated with the combined total of the qualifying receipts.
